What many people don't realize is that your resume needs to stand out and impress the recruiter in 6 seconds. You need to grab their attention from the dozens, if not hundreds, of other resumes just to have the chance to be considered to be included into the next recruitment phase. This workshop is designed to help you make the best "on-paper first impression" you can and teach you the reasons behind why design, formatting, word choices, grammar and spelling, matter. There are no guarantees that this will get you your dream job, but hopefully will get your foot in the door for more opportunities than you're currently getting.
About the presenter:
Sarah Beasley, Office Services Manager / HR Lead, DDB Canada
Sarah graduated from the University of Alberta with a BComm and double major in Marketing and Human Resource Management. Sarah's career spans from international experience working in London, England to not-for-profit to publicly traded global organizations. Although originally starting in the marketing industry, Sarah's positions always held HR elements to them and she gradually made the transition to HR when she was asked to be the HR Manager for a Canadian wholesale company with 33 branches in Western Canada. Performing all of the recruitment for these branches created her "fun fact" of having viewed over 10,000 resumes in 1 year. Sarah confesses she is not a professed resume expert but just someone who hopes to help others with the tricks of the trade she's learned over the years.
