What is Water Baptism?
Water Baptism is the next step after deciding to follow Jesus! Baptism is a command. Everyone who confesses Christ should be obedient to it and baptized. Baptism signifies the Lordship (or leadership) of Jesus in our lives and our obedience to His command to repent of our sins. When baptized, you are fully immersed in water, symbolizing the burial of your old sinful life and the beginning of a new life in Christ! We believe in water baptism because Jesus himself modeled it for us. In the book of Luke it says, "When all the people were baptized, Jesus was baptized too. As he was praying, heaven was opened." (Luke 3:21)
Those who accepted his message were baptized and three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 2:41
When you were baptized, you were buried as Christ was buried. When you were raised up in baptism, you were raised as Christ was raised. You were raised to new life by putting your trust in God. It was God who raised Jesus from the dead. Colossians 2:12
The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?”So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus. As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?”He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. Acts 8: 34-35

Baptisms happen on the 4th Sunday of every month, in every service!
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing dark pants or shorts. A Baptism t-shirt will be given to you upon arrival if your baptism day. Don't forget your towel!
What if I was baptized as a baby?
This is what we call child dedication. It is based off the faith of the parents believing you will walk with the Lord. As an adult, you can exercise your own faith to bury the old life and be raised to newness of life in your walk with God.
What is the meaning of Baptism?
It illustrates Christ's burial and resurrection.
“Christ died for our sins… He was buried… and He rose again.” — 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.” —Colossians. 2:12
It illustrates my new life as a Christian.
“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
“By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead…so also we may live a new life!” — Romans 6:4
Baptism doesn't make you a believer—it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not “save” you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is the outward symbol of the inward commitment you make in your heart.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9
What if I feel unworthy? Do I have to get my life in order first?
The answer is no. In Acts, many of the people who repented were baptized the same day, some even the same hour. Obviously they were not perfect, but they were open to God working in their lives and helping them change those old habits and old ways of thinking and living.
Can my child be baptized?
At Celebration Church, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them. We recommend waiting until children are between the ages of 10 to 12, depending on their understanding. We do have something called Child Dedication, which you can read about above.
